Cuban Tres Guitar

An instrument invented in Central America in the mid twentieth century to create a percussive high strung guitar sound that can be used as accompaniment or lead fills. The original instruments were converted classical style guitars but nowdays they are more often purpose built. The scale of 600 mm, smaller cutaway body, and slimmer neck width make this easy to play in one of the common tunings (in this case paired and octave strings, C, E, G). this one is built in sitka spruce with New Zealand grown Tasmanian blackwood back and sides. The tres is finished in a satin laquer with a clear plastic pickguard.
