A pin bridge cittern with engleman spruce top and rosewood back and sides,
figured blackwood binding with purfling and rosette cut from solid paua. The
headstock veneer, radiused fingerboard and bridge are made of ebony. The bridge
pins are ebony with paua dots inlaid.
The nut and saddle are bone and the pick guard are clear plastic. The cittern
is finished in satin laquer and fits a hard classical guitar case. The long
scale length allows a low D bass string to accompany regular octave mandolin
tuning GDAE. The pictured instrument was custom made for a musician in California.
